TOTTI ASSIST AS ROMA PLAY DRAW AGAINST BOLOGNA

Italian side, AS Roma had a frustrating encounter with Seria A team, Bologna in a match that ended in a 1-1 draw.

Roma legend, Francesco Totti, who has been out of favor provided the team with his first assist this season. The results from the match dented the hopes of the Italian side from a second automatic Champions League qualifying spot.

The aging talent in Totti is a widely debated issue in Italy as the player is being stalled on an extra year's deal. The 39-year-old has spent 23 seasons with the club in Italy. Due to injuries, the player has only made few appearances this season for the Italian club side.

Totti replaced Iago Falque at half-time he made an almost immediate impact. AS Roma trailed by a goal after Bologna’s Luca Rossettini scored in the 25th minute. Wojciech Szczesny in a moment of hesitation let the player send a free kick to the back of the net as he was at his far post.

Totti sent a through ball to Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah and he scored to goal to salvage a point for Roma, having hit the woodwork himself in the first half. He seamlessly placed the ball past Antonio Mirante after beating the offside trap of the Bologna defense. The goal which came in the 50th minute was enough to see to a draw between both sides.

After the game, the coach Spalletti hinted, when interviewed by Raj News that he was contented with the draw.

"We didn't win tonight but the lads played good football and Bologna did well to take a share of the spoils."

Totti and Spalletti had a row two months ago when the legend said he should be playing more and deserved more respect by the club.

Spalletti retorted that Totti was "no better" than many other players at his disposal. When asked during the interview if Totti did excellent after finally getting action, he answered: “It's you who says it. I've always had Totti available, and when I feel he can give me something then he plays, as happened tonight. He strengthened the team and gave the fans a little boost."
