Allegri Unhappy with 1-0 Win over Roma
Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri says that he is not satisfied with the performance of his team despite the narrow win over Roma. The win extended Juventus’ lead at the top of the table to four points with a game in hand. Gonzalo Higuain scored the only goal of the game in the 14th minute to take his tally for the campaign to 10 goals.
He still trails Icardi of Inter Milan by four goals, but the Argentine will be more than happy with his goals helping Juventus take more points. There was a danger of Juventus conceding in the late moments of the game, but they held on courtesy of some last-ditch defending.
Allegri is trying to get the team to a sixth consecutive league title, but he is aware that it will not be easy by any means. Roma are stronger than ever before, while there is a real threat in the form of AC Milan, who are in within the reaches of the top three. Juventus will be taking on Milan in the Italian Super Cup in the winter break.
Allegri reckons that his team could have played much better on a technical level. The lack of control in the game through possession meant that the opposition were able to have some chances, which could have gone either way.
“We could have played better, especially technically. Ultimately we didn't manage possession well and had a few too many hairy moments from set-pieces. We're in a good position and tonight's win was important as it allows us to move seven points clear of Roma after a nice, well-fought match. I must congratulate all 22 players out there. Either way, there's still a long way to go. I'm not interested in records; what matters is being top come the end of May," said Allegri.
