DIAWARA WANTS VALENCIA MOVE - AGENT
AS Roma midfielder AmadouDiawara is keen to sign for Spanish La Liga side Valencia according to his agent Daniele Piraino in an exclusive interview with Marca, one of the biggest newspapers on the European football scene.
Roma boss Jose Mourinho still wants to increase the quality of midfielders at his disposal before the current winter transfer window ends. He has already signed midfielder Sergio Oliveira on loan from FC Porto with the option to buy at the start of the transfer window.
Mourinho knows that wages must be freed before he can add a new midfielder. To this effect, the Portuguese tactician will have the opportunity to sign a new midfielder if Diawara leaves to join Valencia in the coming days. His agent said clubs in Italy and France are interested in his client, but the target for him is Valencia. Some reports had earlier said that Diawara turned down a move to Valencia. However, it appears like the player is keen to sign for Los Che.
Piraino confirmed that he met with Tiago Pinto and the resolution was that Diawara must leave. Pinto is a director at Roma. The exit of the player will pave way for the signing of a new midfielder.
On a new midfielder, the number one target for Mourinho is Xhaka and the report from popular Italian publication Calciomercatoweb stated that Arsenal would be willing to let Xhaka leave on loan with the obligation to buy for €22m. Roma had the opportunity to sign Portuguese midfielder Danilo Pereira from French club Paris Saint Germain (PSG), but compatriot Mourinho needed another characteristics for his midfield.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is also a target for Mourinho and Roma, but his salary could be a stumbling block. Spurs want Roma to pay a big part of his salary if he moves on loan to the Italian club until the end of the season.
