ARSENAL STILL MAKING CHANGES TO TEAM
Arsenal Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is likely exiting the Emirates this term, according to reports.
Szczesny has been on loan to Roma ever since the former Chelsea goalie, Petr Cech arrived Arsenal. The 26-year old Polish international seems ready to complete a £15 million move to stay with the Italians permanently. He has been very active with Roma as he has helped them climb to the second position right behind Juventus in the Seria A table this season.
Meanwhile, French trio at the emirates stadium – Laurent Koscielny, Francis Coquelin and Oliver Giroud – have signed long term deals at Arsenal. Kocielny, who arrived Arsenal in 2010 has made 273 appearances and revealed on His Twitter account that he will continue his stay in Arsenal till 2020. His tweet read: “I am pleased to announce you that I extend my adventure with Arsenal until 2020.”
Giroud, who was the club’s top scorer last campaign with 24 goals in all competitions, has made 19 appearances with 9 goals this season. Coquelin, a strategic midfielder has made a total of 131 appearances for the Gunners.
“We are very pleased with that three important member of our team have committed to us for the long term,” manager Arsene Wenger said of the decision to retain the trio. He also commended them for their contributions and efforts to the club and he is very pleased with their decision.
Several questions have been raised about the ability of Arsenal to keep its key players amid protracted negotiations with the influential duo – Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
Ioannis Evangelopoulos, Kostas Manolas’ Agent revealed that the bid for the Roman defender from arsenal never materialised.
Evangelopoulos said that the Gunners were really interested in signing over Kostas, but Roma’s demands surpassed what they were willing to pay for. After failing with their bid, Arsenal then turned their focus to a £35 million sign in of Shkodran Mustafi.
