ROMA UNDERGOING REVOLUTION WITH PAULO FONSECA

Roma have been one of those clubs in the Italian League that sometimes looks like the nearly men club. They don’t have the trophies like Juventus or the European pedigree of Milan clubs but despite this they still remain one of the top clubs in Italy.

They are a level above the likes of Fiorentina and Lazio but fall short of the elite level where the likes of Juventus and the Milan clubs are. This season however Roma could undergo a renaissance under new manager Paulo Fonseca.

Fonseca enjoyed plenty of success in Ukraine
as the manager of Shakhtar Donestk and comes with a starring reputation. The Portuguese gaffer loves to play brilliant attacking football and it is no surprise that Roma have gone for his services.

Despite the underachievement of the club in recent years the transfer policy of the club has been surprisingly good. Sevilla transfer king Monchi spent two unsuccessful seasons in Rome but his transfer fingerprints have left a good attacking squad for Fonseca.

He was able to convince Bosnian forward EdinDzeko to sign a new deal which was important as the former Manchester City forward remains one of the best forwards in the league. In addition, the loan signing of HenrikhMkhitaryan from Arsenal could prove to be a masterstroke.

The Armenian is capable of ripping defences in Italy if he rediscovers the form that made him one of the hottest midfielders in Europe a couple of seasons back. Meanwhile, the youngsters in Cengiz Under and Zaniolo continue to impress with their developments.

Another player that has enjoyed a good start to the season is former Ajax ace Justin Kluivert. The pacy winger has been able to enjoy some of his best football this season under the tutelage of Fonseca. It remains to be seen whether the revolution will be enough to make the big teams notice.
