ROMA MOVE TO SECOND IN SERIE A

Serie A outfit AS Roma seem to be a real contender for the title this season as they have risen from every obstacle.

Despite going away to Crotone, they defeated their hosts 2-0 to move back in second place ahead of Napoli.

Chelsea target Radja Nianggolan scored in the first half while Edin Dzeko continued his brilliant form this term to complete the 2-0 rout at the Stadio Ezio Scida. The victory sees Roma move within four points of log leaders Juventus – whom are meeting Cagliari on Sunday. A loss for Juve could open up the title race this term.

Roma could have gone one up in the 17th minute after Egypt international Mohammed Salah was fouled by Gianmarco Ferrari. The referee pointed to the spot only for Dzeko to throw away the opportunity.

The visitors remained resilient, breaking through in the 40th minute after Nainggolan connected with a Salah pass to score. The host’s goalkeeper Alex Cordaz could not do anything to stop the goal-bound effort.

The visitors lost several other chances they created. The framework also denied them twice. Dzeko’s effort at goal was deflected that it hit the bar. Federico Fazio headed a ball from Leandro Paredes but it hit the goalpost again.

Roma kept at their attack and they were rewarded when Paredes and Salah combined to set up Dzeko. The former Manchester City striker did a simple tap in to make it 2-0 in the 77th minute.
Juventus remain favourites for the Scudetto but Roma and Napoli are giving them a run for their money.
