TITLE HOPES
Roma manager Rudi Garcia will be hoping to make the most out of the three signings that the club has made in the summer to finish in the European places. It has been a long time since Roma managed to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League.
However, they have spent heavily in the summer in the hopes of finishing in the top three. They have brought in the PSV player Kevin Strootman for € 17 million only recently. The presence of Mario Borriello and Pablo Osvaldo in the team could also benefit them hugely after the two players have been constantly linked with a move away from the club.
Borriello has spent the last two seasons on loan at Juventus and Genoa respectively. However, he is looking set to stay at Roma for the upcoming season. Garcia has praised the striker by saying that he is someone who can complement Francisco Totti extremely well. Despite coming to the twilight of his career, Garcia has confirmed that Totti will be an important player for Roma this season. Due to his physical presence and an extremely good left foot, Borriello has the ability to complement him well. Garcia also has said that he expects a lot of Strootman as well.
“Borriello has gunpowder in his left foot, he’s ready physically and has a good understanding with Francesco Totti on the field of play. He is a true striker. Strootman is a high level player. He’s very technical and he asks for the ball. I like his determination, his desire to win, and his leadership. Osvaldo is a goal scorer and a player of the highest level. It is always better to keep your best players rather than see them leave,” said the manager about the player of Borriello, Osvaldo, and Strootman.
