ZEMAN RUES SACKING
The former Roma manager Zdenek Zeman has stated that he is not agree with the Roma fans and board after his sacking recently.
The 65-year-old recently lost his job as the Roma manager after an indifferent first half of the season. The 4-2 defeat at the hands of Cagliari during the weekend was enough to convince the Roma board that a change in management was necessary in order to finish in the top three. The arrival of the former Lazio manager was greeted with great response during the summer, but Zeman was unable to bring good results to the club on a consistent basis.
The 4-2 defeat against Cagliari has left the team in the eighth position, while the team has no victories in the last five matches. They have just 34 points on the board, while Lazio in the third position have 43 points. Finishing in the top three is essential for a club like Roma due to the offer of Champions League football. There have been several rumours of a rift in the dressing room, but the former manager refused to entertain such speculation by saying that he always had the full support of his players. He also took time to thank the support of the fans as well.
“I do not feel abandoned by the players and the team never played against me. I am not happy about being sacked, that's for sure – but I've spoken with [captain Francesco] Tottiand the board. It's nice to see the affection from the fans – I didn't expect it," said the former manager of Roma. It is expected that the club will be making an announcement regarding the next manager over the next couple of weeks. Roma will be facing the leaders Juventus in a fortnight, and they will be hoping to have a replacement before that match.
